Many of you have been praying for access in to other Shuar communities on the Shiripuno River. The past three years we have had very little progress except for the community of Peas. This past month the Lord has finally began blowing open some new doors. It is amazing to watch Him at work.
Our co-workers Jim and Ulises were visiting the community Peas three weeks ago. They were teaching the believers there when some families from neighboring communties showed up. They were invited in to two other communities Hua and Kunkuki. A family of 9 came to the Lord in Kunkuki and 3 in Hua. These families had seen a difference in the believers in Peas and had interest to talk to us about salvation.
The two weeks ago all of us were invited to visit another community called San Jorge about eight hours south of us and six more came to the Lord. This is the home community of Martin the first believer in Peas. There were over one hundred gathered to celebrate the birthday of Martin’s father. Music was playing loud both nights. Many were getting drunk, it was quite a scene. We were thinking of Jesus at Matthew’s home. What an opportunity the Lord gave us to share with so many who did not know Him.
We attempted to sleep in a tiny wood home with 22 other extended family members around us. There were two parrots sleeping under us and some cow legs that were taken from the one they butchered hanging above us. It may not have been the most comfortable two days but we celebrate what the Lord did and is doing here in the jungles of Ecuador.
Thank you for your prayers for these precious and lost people. I attached a recent photo of the boys and girls dorms. We still need to finish wiring, paint, and some ceramic but we are getting closer. The first of April we will begin the construction of the school itself, the Lord willing.
Love you all;
Mark & Cheryl
